Will they be the last puppets?

During an Artic Monkeys tour through the UK, The Little Flames opened their concerts. Alex Turner and Mile Kane , the vocalists of each respective band, became friends, leading a series of compositions together. There was so much chemistry between these two musicians that The Arctic Monkeys invited Mile to participate as a guest guitarist in “505” , song from their second album “Favorite Worst Nightmare” .

James Ford , the producer, did not miss the opportunity, after observing these kids, to give life to a new project where he would participate as a drummer and invited the violinist Owen Pallet to make a number of arrangements that were then recorded by an string orchestra , The London Metropolitan Orchestra . This last stroke gave origin to Last Shadow Puppets . Being part of the prominent label Domino’s catalog, house of artists such as Franz Ferdinand , Four Tet or Sons and Daughters , and which kept Elliott Smith ’s recording rights.

Their first single, shares its name with the album, The Age of the Underdstatement . Does nothing but, reminds me of Muse ’s song The Knights of Cydonia but with a touch of The Arctic Monkeys. I would not say this project will continue to bear fruit in order to be considered as one of the best bands, since both leaders have their respective bands, The Arctic Monkeys and The Rascals by Mile . But that does not detract that this production, despite the slightly with the time that was done, is a small jewel.

To include the string orchestra, lifted the sound potence. And I do not know if it was the engineer Jimmy Robertson or the mixing by Ford , but it has a retro texture very well set, which from my point of view, is what captivates in the first place.
