About this site
This Acidconga´s concept was born from a particular way of observing music among its first members and founders Angel Montaña and Juan Carlos Zarzosa, whose idea initially was not to have a webpage. Angel and Juan Carlos shared an idea that arose for a hobby to music with a peculiar trend which mainly consists of two elements: the roots and the avant-garde. With this common vision lend itself to hours of chatting and having musical coexistion This concept can be seen as consisting of the merger of two words acid and conga where his every word represents something.
The conga is the instrument par excellence but used globally of Latino origin. The conga currently used is a deribacion of African conga, but this instrument sounding concaba represents a huge repertoire of Latin rhythms giving the word “conga” symbolism to the root, specifically the Latin root. While the word “acid”, and its literal translation, “acidic”, represents this image, this existing artistic qualifier that denotes a poignant meaning. That is corrosive into the image and strident in the sound. From there the acid rock, acid jazz or acid-techno as illustrations.
Both musicians, played for hours exploring African rhythms and Latin roots, and so, by creating rought out tunes for a project that so far has not been materialized, concretized. On one hand one had his band and one had another. Thing that did not prevent this concept grow despite the distances and obstacles that had to create the musical project. The page has helped Acidconga not break that link musical ideas giving space and the freedom to follow that esquisito feast of criticism towards music.
Over time the blog has served as a forum for many of the circle to translate their ideas and opinions. The few collaborations of the journalist Emmanuel Popoca, the philosopher Roberto Romero, the unbeatable addition of Alfredo to the team for his precise frequency and quality, as well as the outstanding participation of Mauricio, had made the site grow in popularity and have been gaining more and more sense .
